The Hands Behind Every SZN Bag

When people think of leather workshops in China, they often imagine towering factories, endless assembly lines, and mass production. But SZN chose a different path.

Our bags are brought to life in a family-owned workshop led by a husband and wife team who have spent 14 years perfecting their craft. The wife focuses on marketing, while the husband himself sources the leather. Nothing can get more personal than that kind of teamwork. Their workshop is not about scale, but about skill. With only around 20 artisans, every hand that touches a SZN bag is guided by care, patience, and experience.

Unlike large-scale factories where workers are paid by the piece, our artisans are paid by the hour. This simple but important difference means they are never rushed to finish as many bags as possible. Instead, they take their time, making sure every stitch, every edge, and every cut is considered. The result is a bag that feels more personal, more deliberate, and truly built to last.

Small-batch production is at the heart of this partnership. Because the workshop operates on a scale that values craftsmanship over quantity, no two SZN bags are ever exactly alike. Each piece carries the subtle signature of the artisan who made it.

This workshop model is not unique to SZN alone. Brands like Freja New York, a luxury vegan handbag label, have also partnered with family-run workshops in China that share the same ethos: small-batch, slow production rooted in integrity. SZN proudly continues this tradition, proving that the best bags do not come from mass production, but from human hands and careful attention.

In a world where speed often replaces substance, SZN proudly works with a workshop that has built its reputation not on mass output but on mastery. Together, we honor the belief that luxury is not about logos or excess. It is about integrity, patience, and the human touch.
